Admissions
What ages does KYZN take?
Six months to six years, across six levels. Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2 run at Kuningan only.
Which level will my child start in?
Age on 13 July 2026, the first day of the school year, decides the room. Enter a date of birth on the Programs page and it works it out for you.
Is there a trial class?
Yes. It is the second step, after the tour, and your child joins the room they would actually be in.
How does admission work?
Four steps: a tour, a trial class, the form and documents, then the place confirmed in writing. You only have to start the first one.
What happens on a tour?
About 45 minutes, while class is running. You walk through the classrooms in use and meet the teacher who would have your child.
What documents do you need?
Birth certificate, family card or passport and KITAS, one parent ID, two photographs, the immunisation record and any previous report. Copies are fine, and none of it is needed before a tour.
Can my child join in the middle of the year?
Yes, when the room has space. Admissions checks the level your child would join at your campus and tells you before you book anything.
What is the difference between Kuningan and BSD?
Kuningan opens all six levels and runs a longer day. BSD runs Infant to Nursery 2 in combined-level rooms inside the larger campus.
When does the school year start?
13 July 2026. Enrolment for 2026 to 2027 is open, and the year runs in four terms through to June 2027.
Curriculum
What does an eclectic curriculum mean?
It means we do not run one method. We take what Montessori, Vygotsky and Reggio Emilia each do best, and use it at the moment it actually helps a three-year-old.
Which standards is the curriculum measured against?
Three: England's EYFS, the American NAEYC standard for developmentally appropriate practice, and Indonesia's Kurikulum Merdeka. Eclectic is not the same as improvised.
What are you watching as my child develops?
Four domains, worked on at the same time: cognitive, physical, social and emotional, and language. A morning that only moves one of them forward is a morning that went wrong.
Are there real subjects at this age?
Eleven, and each one sits under one of the four domains. They are the shape of a morning rather than a timetable of lessons.
Will my child be ready for primary school?
Kurikulum Merdeka is one of the three frameworks the classroom is checked against, and it is the one that keeps a KYZN child aligned with the primary school they move on to.
Daily life
What time does the school day run?
Kuningan runs Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 15:00. BSD runs Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 13:00.
Does my child come every day?
It depends on the level. Infant is Tuesday and Thursday, Toddler is Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Nursery 1 upwards runs Monday to Friday.
What does a morning actually look like?
Exploration, circle time, focused subjects, snack, enrichment, then motor skills. The full schedule for every level is on the site, hour by hour.
Is snack provided?
Yes, every day, and the children pour their own drink and clear their own plate. The menu rotates monthly and the week ahead is published in illumine every Monday.
What does my child need to bring?
The room supplies the materials. Admissions sends the short list for your child's level once the place is confirmed, because what the Infant room needs and what Kindergarten needs are not the same.
Is there afterschool care?
KYZN Afterschool Care runs once the school morning finishes. Children get an activity from the fourteen on offer, a rest, a healthy snack, and a bath before pick-up.
How do you settle a child in the first weeks?
The trial class means the first morning is not the first time in the room. The teacher stays the same, and illumine tells you how it is going while it is going.
Teachers and classes
Who will teach my child?
Every level has its own teachers, and you meet the ones for your child's level on the tour. We would rather introduce them in the room than list names on a page.
What is the teacher to child ratio?
It differs by level and is closest in the Infant room. Ask admissions for the ratio in the room your child would join, and see it for yourself on the tour.
How many children are in a class?
It differs by level and by campus, and it is set before the year starts. Admissions gives you the number for the room your child would join.
What is a combined-level classroom?
At BSD, Infant to Nursery 2 share rooms rather than having one each. At Kuningan every level has a classroom of its own.
How will I know how my child is doing?
illumine carries the day as it happens rather than summarising it at the end of term: attendance, photographs, what was eaten, and the teacher's own observations.
Health and safety
How do you handle food allergies?
The snack menu is planned around the allergies in each room. Tell us about your child's before the first day, and tell us again if anything changes.
What if my child is unwell?
A child with a fever or something catching stays home until they are well, which is the same protection every other family in the room is owed. Any medicine needed during the morning is handed to the teacher rather than left in a bag.
Who is allowed to collect my child?
The adults named on the enrolment form. If somebody else is coming, tell the room in advance and ask them to bring ID.
Fees
How do I get fee information?
Ask admissions and we send the current schedule for your campus and level. Fees are not published on the site.
What makes one child's fee different from another's?
The level, the campus, and how many days a week your child attends. At Kuningan the KYZN membership is included; at BSD it is held separately.
Is afterschool care included?
No. Afterschool care is quoted separately from the school morning, and admissions puts both on the same schedule when you ask.
